CEO MESSAGE

Carol J. Ornelas
Chief Executive Officer

These are exciting times for our company.  As you may know, we have remodeled and renovated our corporate offices.  This office remodel is an example of the community coming together.  We would like to thank the City of Stockton, the S.H. Cowell Foundation, and Bank of Stockton whose participation helped revitalize our new office building.  The new facelift has provided our staff and board of directors to re-evaluate our mission as a non-profit organization.  Founded in 1983, ACLC was focused on community development for migrant farm workers and lower income families.  Since then, the company has expanded its operations to include homeowner counseling services, financing, and property rental. ACLC has grown to become a company that has developed over 800 multi-family units, 300 single-family units and has brought in over $100 million dollars in its communities.

In addition to development, ACLC has counseled over 2000 families through credit counseling, budget counseling, and homebuyers education classes.  ACLC has proven to be a valuable asset in the community by developing affordable homes and communities for low and moderate income families.  Moving forward, we at ACLC have realized we need to change and grow as the community that we service changes and grows.  We have expanded into Sacramento and Fresno and now serve the entire San Joaquin Valley.  Our mission and focus has become more diverse and we must plan for it accordingly.  ACLC has built many projects over the years to include: Emerald Pointe, Diamond Cove and the recently completed Valle del Sol and Diamond Cove II.  Villa Montecito is the next project that will be completed in 2007.

For all these reasons that I have mentioned above, we felt it was time to change our name that represented the vision that we as a company are working towards.  ACLC was a valuable asset to the community and as Visionary Home Builders of California, it will allow us to become more inclusive of the people we service.  The name change, new logo, new website and office remodel gives us an opportunity to start new with our vision for our community.  I am proud to work with our board of directors, lead our staff and our company into the 21st Century and guide us through the challenges of building affordable housing.

In conclusion, we must continue to work hard to develop beautiful, safe and affordable housing in our community for our clients that we serve on a daily basis.
